How We Started

Kelvin Redvers, Mark Miller, and Neil Thomas; IndigiFilm staff.

Indigifilm started as a collaboration between three showbusiness veterans who wanted to see more Indigenous content circulating within the industry. They founded the company inside Vancouver, BC, Canada but its team works across the country bringing a fresh perspective to media content.

How We Started

In the film/TV industry, we saw a shortage of Indigenous producers in 2022. Kelvin Redvers felt this was a gap that needed to be filled immediately. He made a pitch to Mark Miller about the scope and focus of the company, and about the possibility of partnering – and thus IndigiFilm was born.

Indigifilm is an Indigenous owned production company that develops and produces market-focused media for a global audience.
Redvers works as the company’s creative and business lead; producing, directing, and writing, depending on the project’s needs. Miller is our acting business advisor and Executive Producer. Currently, development of unscripted is being supported by Neil Thomas, another industry titan in television. He’s the co-creator (alongside Miller) of Highway Thru Hell, one the most successful Canadian doc series of all time (acting as showrunner for most of the show’s incredible run). His sense of what can make a great show and why is unparalleled and is committed to making IndigiFilm a force to be reckoned with in media in Canada and beyond.

IndigiFilm is ready to crew up for a show of any size or depth. The company’s first major project, Cold Road, is a feature film thriller produced in partnership with Telefilm, the Canadian Media Fund, Bell Media/Crave, and with distribution in Canada from levelFILM.

Redvers has worked in media for 15 years. Thomas and Miller for 30 or more. Together, they bring over 75 years of film industry experience to Indigifilm. 75 years of connections to crew, writers, directors, camera-folks and showrunners in Canada.

Kelvin Redvers

CREATOR, CEO & PRODUCER

Redvers started producing TV at age 23, on an Indigenous news doc series for CTV Canada, First Story, where the first episode he ever produced won the top journalism award in BC (winning many more awards for CTV in the years after). Redvers created a prestige multi-million dollar doc series, High Arctic Haulers, which aired on CBC Television, and all over the world.

Redvers’ scripted work has screened at the Toronto International Film Festival, and many festivals abroad. He’s currently finishing post on his first feature film, Cold Road, a thriller he produced, wrote and directed. Alongside his sibling, Redvers co-created a national Indigenous youth mental health non-profit, We Matter, which uses video to connect with struggling youth. Through this work he collaborated with Facebook, Twitter, the Royal Bank of Canada, and even the Prime Minister – reaching millions of people online, and ultimately earning him a Governor General’s Medal, one of the top honors for any civilian in Canada.

Mark Miller, Executive Producer of IndigiFilm Media Inc.

Mark Miller

EXECUTIVE PRODUCER

Mark Miller is Canada’s most successful factual producer. He is the creator of hundreds of hours of television, including the hit Highway Thru Hell now in its 13th season. The co-founder of Great Pacific Media and former president of Thunderbird Entertainment, no other creative producer in Canada has sold more hours of factual international television into more markets. Also, as Executive Producer of CBC’s Kim’s Convenience he’s cemented his success across scripted and unscripted television.

Miller is driven by a commitment to authentic storytellers and storytelling. 35 years ago his career started in Indigenous media, producing and hosting bilingual Cree/English newscasts for the Arctic. Over the past three decades he has championed Indigenous stories and storytellers through mentorship and seed financing. He believes fully in the vision of that punk Dene producer.
